IELTS WRITING TEST, Academic Writing with Jawahar Education
IELTS WRITING TEST:
For both Academic Writing and General Writing, there are two sections of the IELTS writing test, but the format of the questions is different. You will have 60 minutes to complete the course. Ideally, you should split your time between sections A and B in a manner of 20+40 minutes each.
Academic Writing:
IELTS Academic Writing Task 1: In Writing Task 1, students may be asked to describe facts or figures presented in graphs, charts, or tables related to the task at hand, or to describe the operation of a machine, device, or process. It is recommended that test takers respond to this task in a semi-formal or neutral style, highlighting the most relevant and significant points. This task shouldn't take longer than 20 minutes to complete. The purpose of this task is to assess the ability to identify significant and relevant information and trends in a graph, chart, table, or diagram, and to present this information in an academic style and using accurate language. For this task, there will be only one question.
IELTS Academic Writing Task 2: In task 2 the test taker is required to write an essay responding to a viewpoint, argument, or problem. Style can vary from fairly formal to quite personal in an essay. By completing this task, you will be assessed on your ability to present a clear, relevant, well-organized argument, provide evidence to back up your ideas, and use language correctly.
General Writing:
Writing Task 1: An assignment is given to the test taker to create a personal response in the form of a letter in at least 150 words, whether informal, semi-formal, or formal, explaining the situation.
Writing Task 2: In task 2, the test takers are required to write a semi-formal/neutral discursive essay of at least 250 words. An assessment of the ability to adhere to English discursive writing conventions (i.e., how to arrange information, what style to use, how to begin and end discursive writing, how to paragraph) as well as the ability to link and organise information in a coherent and cohesive manner, as well as to use appropriate and accurate language.
