Listening Test: lasts 30 minutes (plus 10 minutes of Transfer Time). A total of four recordings are included in the listening test. There is no difference between the Academic & General IELTS Listening Tests. There are four sections in this test, each of which contains ten questions. You must listen to four recordings of native English speakers and then write your responses to the questions. As the audio plays, the answers appear in chronological order. Sections 1 and 2 deal with scenarios that occur in ordinary social situations. The first part contains a dialogue between two speakers, and the second part contains a monologue. Part 3 presents a conversation between two major speakers, and Part 4 provides a monologue on an intellectual-topics Type of questions: Questions can be of the following types: · Multiple choice. · Matching. · Plan/map/diagram labelling. · Form/note/table/flow-chart/summary completion. · Sentence completion There will be 40 questions containing 1 mark each. No negative marking will be there IELTS READING TEST: IELTS reading takes 60 minutes and is the second part of the test. In the test, you will need to answer 40 questions with 1 mark each based on reading passages of increasing difficulty. The number of questions and time is the same for both academic and general IELTS, with No Negative marking however, the style of the passage varies IELTS Academic Reading: In the Reading section, you will be tested on a variety of skills related to reading. There are 40 questions in this section. These include summaries, identifying main ideas, comprehending logical arguments, and recognising writers' opinions, attitudes, and purposes. These texts are extracted from books, journals, magazines, and newspapers and have been written for non-specialist audiences. It covers a wide range of topics of general interest. The topics covered in the tests are relevant, informative, and understandable for students attempting to enroll in undergraduate or postgraduate courses or attempting to obtain professional certification. It is possible to include nonverbal materials in texts such as diagrams, graphs, and illustrations. When technical terms are encountered in the text, a lexicon is provided. In the second section, you will find job descriptions, contracts, and materials for the development and training of staff. You will have 60 minutes to complete the course. Ideally, you should split your time between sections A and B in a manner of 20+40 minutes each. Academic Writing: IELTS Academic Writing Task 1: In Writing Task 1, students may be asked to describe facts or figures presented in graphs, charts, or tables related to the task at hand, or to describe the operation of a machine, device, or process. It is recommended that test takers respond to this task in a semi-formal or neutral style, highlighting the most relevant and significant points. This task shouldn't take longer than 20 minutes to complete. The purpose of this task is to assess the ability to identify significant and relevant information and trends in a graph, chart, table, or diagram, and to present this information in an academic style and using accurate language. For this task, there will be only one question. IELTS Academic Writing Task 2: In task 2 the test taker is required to write an essay responding to a viewpoint, argument, or problem. Style can vary from fairly formal to quite personal in an essay. By completing this task, you will be assessed on your ability to present a clear, relevant, well-organized argument, provide evidence to back up your ideas, and use language correctly. General Writing: Writing Task 1: An assignment is given to the test taker to create a personal response in the form of a letter in at least 150 words, whether informal, semi-formal, or formal, explaining the situation. Writing Task 2: In task 2, the test takers are required to write a semi-formal/neutral discursive essay of at least 250 words. An assessment of the ability to adhere to English discursive writing conventions (i.e., how to arrange information, what style to use, how to begin and end discursive writing, how to paragraph) as well as the ability to link and organise information in a coherent and cohesive manner, as well as to use appropriate and accurate language.
